What is High-Pass Crossover?

High-Pass Crossover — A filter, often found in a powered subwoofer, that accepts the full-range audio signal heading for the main speakers. This filter only passes frequencies falling above a predetermined frequency and it attenuates those below. The goal is to prevent the main speakers from reproducing sounds that would be more accurately reproduced by a subwoofer.
