Legal Terms Indirect Tax — Indirect Tax information: A tax that is imposed on a right or privilege. The tax is not paid directly by the consumer but is instead passed through as a cost of doing business. For example, an occupational or franchise tax is a cost of doing business that gets buried in the price of the product and is paid indirectly by the customer.
