What is Compote?
Compote — A classic dish of fresh or dried fruits, simmered or baked in a light syrup. The fruit can be cooked whole or cut into pieces and almost anything can be used - limes, figs, apricots, rhubarb, berries. It's good to use seasonal fruits to get the best flavour. A savoury compote made with tomatoes or shallots is a tasty accompaniment to barbecued meat or fish.
