What is REFORMULATED GASOLINE (RFG)?

REFORMULATED GASOLINE (RFG) — A cleaner-burning gasoline that has had its compositions and/or characteristics altered to reduce vehicular emissions of pollutants. It was sold in California beginning in 1996 with the oxygenate additive MTBE.
