- VISIBLE LIGHT TRANSMITTANCE
- The ratio of visible light transmitted through a substance to the total visible light incident on its surface.
- VISS (VHS Index Search System)
- Automatically places a signal on the control track of a tape at the beginning of each recorded program. This allows you to access the desired program by using the fast-forward or rewind buttons. The tape will stop at the signal.
- Vitamin A
- A fat soluble vitamin. A lack of vitamin A can cause skin to become dry and hardened.
- Vitamin C
- A water soluble vitamin. A preservative and antioxidant used in cosmetic creams.
- Vitamin D
- A fat soluble vitamin. Necessary for bone and tooth structure. Formed in the skin on exposure to sunlight.
- Vitamin E
- An antioxidant often used in deodorants and hair grooming aids.
- Vocation
- A person's occupation or profession when considered a suitable long-term career. A person is said to have found their vocation when they've found a career that they're 100% happy with.
- Vodka

- (1) The human voice; (2) an independent line in any polyphonic piece.
- Void
- Void means null, or having no legal effect or force.
- VOID
- A policy contract that for some reason specified in the policy becomes free of all legal effect. One example under which a policy could be voided is when information a policyholder provided is proven untrue.

- Voidable refers to a contract that is not absolutely void but because of some defect may be voided on motion of one of the parties.

- VOLATILITY
- A measure of the degree of fluctuation in a stock’s price. Volatility is exemplified by large, frequent price swings up and down.

- Most homeowners policies cover damage from a volcanic eruption.
- VOLT
- A unit of electromotive force. It is the amount of force required to drive a steady current of one ampere through a resistance of one ohm. Electrical systems of most homes and office have 120 volts.
- VOLUME
- Number of shares a stock trades either per day or per week.
- VOLUMETRIC WIRES CHARGE
- A type of charge for using the transmission and/or distribution system that is based on the volume of electricity that is transmitted.
- Voluntary Service Program
- an organized project that a religious or nonprofit charitable organization does to provide help to the poor or needy or to further a religious or charitable cause. Participants may be eligible for B visas.
